 Collaborative Leadership

What is Collaborative Leadership?

Collaborative Leadership is the processes, activities, and relationships in which stakeholders in Center Line Public Schools exchange information, share ideas, and pool our collective resources for mutual benefit to better serve our students.

Why is Collaborative Leadership Important?

Most issues that public schools wrestle with are complex, interdependent, and affect many stakeholders.  To properly address these issues requires a systematic approach with diverse input and multiple perspectives.  By including all stakeholders, Center Line Public Schools will gain a better assessment of the environment, more clearly define the issues affecting our schools and potential solutions, create a more trusting working environment while sharing the decision making process, and developing leaders.

 Facility Study Committee

The economic climate in the United States has taken a huge downturn within the past few years. In the State of Michigan, which is largely supported by the “Big Three” auto companies, we have seen even more dramatic changes.  Unfortunately, we are seeing our unemployment numbers rising, foreclosures instead of new mortgages, and state cuts to educational funding. As a result, school districts are struggling to balance their budgets.

The Center Line Public School District is taking steps to examine how we can operate most efficiently, yet provide the best education for our students. On Monday, October 26, 2009, the Board of Education voted 7-0 to create an advisory Facilities Study sub-committee.  The goal of this committee will be to study and recommend the closing of an elementary building for the 2010-2011 academic year. The process will involve a review of each elementary building, including enrollment trends, building age, condition, capacity, and district finances. A recommendation will be made to the Board of Education no later than February 1, 2010.
