The Academies of Center Line
Incredible things are happening in our school district! Center Line Public Schools is continuing the work of transitioning into a learning environment that not only emphasizes academics but infuses real world career and life skills’ experiences that enhance learning. Our partnerships with Ford Next Generation Learning (Ford NGL) and the Macomb County Department of Planning & Economic Development (MCDPED) as well as several local businesses and professionals have assisted us as we redesign how we teach students starting in kindergarten through graduation.
The Academies of Center Line is not a building or a rebranding of Center Line Public Schools; it is a well-designed and aligned kindergarten through twelfth grade approach to education. The Ford NGL academy model identifies and encompasses students’ strengths and interests while connecting learning experiences to more nontraditional activities and instruction.
Our Academies of Center Line education model can be explained using three words: Discover, Explore, and Experience.
Discover: | Early learners and elementary students are exposed to various careers through investigation and guaranteed experiences each year. |
Explore: | Middle school students are encouraged to explore community businesses and career paths through projects and elective courses. Ninth graders explore careers and personal strengths more deeply while they transition to a career academy. |
Experience: | Tenth through twelfth graders experience learning through the lens of a career pathway in the Health & Human Services Academy or Industry, Technology & Innovation Academy. Graduates receive a portfolio of skills, industry certifications and/or post-secondary credit. Learn more about Center Line High School's career academies. |
Become an Industry Partner
Recognizing that a thriving economy depends on having a skilled and ready workforce in place, MCDPED’s Fueling the Talent Pipeline program connects employers with schools to provide meaningful career exploration experiences for students. Through these partnerships, students gain greater insight into how their interests and talents align with career possibilities and an understanding of the credentials needed to create a prosperous future. As a result, students are prepared to graduate from high school with an industry recognized certification and/or college credit to support their post secondary plans.
Help us develop your future workforce! If you are interested in becoming an industry partner, please visit Fueling the Talent Pipeline to see opportunities and to enroll!
